you have Multiple Sclerosis

"you have Multiple Sclerosis"

2005 on my 15th wedding anniversary that it was I heard from the neuro. Dinner was not a fancy restruant, but hospital food, the main event was not a movie but a spinal tap.

"stay a way from stress"

That is what my neuro told me when I was diagnoised. Stay away from stressful stituations. Um........... Yeah.......... Right!!!!!!!!!!!

I have three children- at the time (2005) Elle was 12, Cody was 10 and Kenzie was 2. Not to mention being married, working etc.... Life is stressful, everyone's life!!

"if you have any new symptoms call me"

This was told to me like I had known I had MS for years, knew all the in's and out's of MS. I did not. The only symptom (that I knew about at the time that sent me to the doctor in the first place) I had had was optic neurtis.

Now my neuro did not give me any information whatsoever on MS. No brochures or any type of literature. He told us to go home and discuss which medicines I would be able to afford through my insurance because they were very expensive. My husband and I looked everything up on the internet. And believe you me there is a lot on the internet.

It seemed we had more questions than answers, and if we had an answer it just led to more questions.

My favorite answer I got from my neruo was dealing with steroids. I hate taking steroids and would rather suffer than have too. I was almost finished with my excessive dosage when I had gone for a check up. I complained that my heart was racing, I could not eat or drink anything and I could not sleep at nite. I asked if it was ok to stop taking the pills and noted that I only had a few days left. He said sure. I asked him why he prescribes such a large dosage of steroids............... are you ready....................his response was BECAUSE YEARS AGO A NEURO DID AND IT WORKED!!! So, why look for something else. Needless to say I no longer see this neuro, nor do I recommend him to anyone else.
